The Cap City Cyclocross Series is quickly approaching, and they have adopted a new race organization model for 2013. In the past the Cap City crew (Spencer Hackett and Mason Morgan primarily) hosted every race in the series, and while they did a great job, it’s a lot of work, and this year they opened the race organization to local Columbus clubs. Paradise Garage Racing will be hosting races alongside Team SixOneFour, Cap City Cycling, Team Jeni’s, COMBO, and Back Room Roasters. Cap City Cross has the full schedule on their web site.
The first race we are hosting is an epic triple series race weekend at Infirmary Mound Park in Granville, Ohio on October 26th and 27th. The race on the 26th counts for points in the state wise Ohio CX Cup series, our own Cap City Cross series, and North East Ohio’s NEOCX series. Then, the race on sunday counts for Cap City and NEOCX. We hope you all hang out for both days to get some solid racing in.
Infirmary Mound is a great venue, and we’re excited to be able to use it. Cap City and OVCX have used Infirmary in previous years, but the course traversed some of the area around the lake. This year we have permission from the park to use the sledding hill and more of the open spaces. Expect elevation gain, fast pace, and wide open racing at this euro style venue and course. With NEO racers and Ohio CX Cup competitors in town we should have some seriously fast racing for the top categories, and good numbers for every race.
Being a part of Ohio CX Cup requires us to allow pre-registration for the Saturday race. But, day of reg will still be available, for the penalty of later call-ups. The Sunday race is day of registration only, bring cash or check.
Be sure to check capcitycross.com for more information on the race and series.
